We made final decision on the boat type, an Archambault Grand Surprise (GS). Fast, faster than a Mumm 30 and a J92S doesn’t even come close. For a comparison see the polar diagram here. The boat is sensitive, reacts like a dingy and at the same time provides a feeling of sailing a heavier boat. The GS is stable, calm, easy to sail double handed and actully fine for longer trips. It sleeps 4 people and depending the type there is a stove and sink. We are looking into something more regatta like and many of the Archambault GS come with the NKE racing equipment which is nice. The boats weigh 2600 kg, with 1100 kilo in the bulb which is 2 meter below the water surface. The boat is main driven (33m2) with a 105% Genoa.
